Martín Caro Rojas

 

Martín Caro Rojas, nacido en Málaga el 12 de junio de 1996, inició su carrera en la música a los 8 años en el Conservatorio Elemental “Maestro Artola”. Posteriormente, estudió Saxofón en el Conservatorio Profesional de Música “Manuel Carra” con Rafael Díaz Gil. En 2014, se trasladó a Granada para realizar las Enseñanzas Superiores de Música en Interpretación en la especialidad de Saxofón en el Real Conservatorio Superior de Música “Victoria Eugenia”, con el profesor Víctor Manuel Martín López, titulándose en 2018 con óptimas calificaciones.

Ese mismo año viajó a Bélgica para realizar el Máster de Interpretación Musical de Saxofón en el Koninklijk Conservatorium de Bruselas, con los profesores SimonDiricq y Pascal Bonnet.

En la actualidad, es profesor de Saxofón en el Conservatorio “Jesús de Monasterio” de Santander, lugar que ocupa desde 2021.

Su pasión por la música de cámara le ha llevado a participar en agrupaciones como el cuarteto de saxofones Sax it!, el quinteto de cañas Quinteto Miwa, Abroad WindEnsemble y Wochepa Caballerizas Quartet, una formación única.

A lo largo de su carrera ha recibido numerosos premios del C.P.M. Manuel Carra, como el primer premio en la II y IV Edición del Concurso de Viento Madera, el primer premio de la VII y VIII Edición del Concurso de Música de Cámara, y el segundo premio de la I Edición del Concurso de Viento Madera. También en el mismo conservatorio obtuvo el premio “Francisco Heredia” al mejor expediente académico Carra en el curso académico 2013/2014.

Durante las Enseñanzas Superiores, consiguió el primer premio del XV concurso de solistas y el primer premio del X Concurso de Música de Cámara del RCSMVE.

Ha realizado cursos de interpretación y música de cámara con el Art Sound Quartet, con el Ensemble Sinoidal, con los componentes del Ensemble Squillante, Vincent David, Claude Delangle, Arno Bornkamp, Sylvain Maleziuex, Gaetano di Bacco, Jerome Laran, Gilles Tressos, Christian Wirth, Pedro Saxo, Daniel Gauthier y Joonatan Rautiola. Ha realizado el I y II curso de tango y nuevas músicas urbanas impartido por Lila Horovitz. También participó como profesor de Saxofón en la primera edición del Super Sax Festival.

En el ámbito compositivo, ha estrenado bastantes obras para diversas agrupaciones, especialmente las realizadas para el Wochepa Caballerizas Quartet, incluyendo la Trilogía de Concurso. Estrenó su propio concierto para saxofón alto y orquesta, Rubén Rojo Concerto, en mayo de 2019 en el RCSMVE. Ganó el premio de Composición del Conservatorio Profesional de Música de Baza con la obra “Destello de ojos negros” en 2013, y fue finalista en el I Concurso Internacional de Composición para banda “Fundación Francisco Carvajal” Ciudad de Albolote, con la obra La Venganza del Sultán del Laberinto. Recientemente, obtuvo el primer premio del 3er Concurso Internacional de Composición Coral «Cármina Nova» con la obra Modern Requiem for the b1tch goat.

Martín Caro Rojas, born in Malaga on June 12, 1996, began his music career at 8 years old at the Elementary Conservatory «Maestro Artola». Later, he studied Saxophone at the Professional Conservatory of Music «Manuel Carra» with Rafael Diaz Gil. In 2014, he moved to Granada to pursue Higher Music Education in Saxophone Performance at the Royal Superior Conservatory of Music «Victoria Eugenia», with professor Victor Manuel Martin Lopez, graduating in in 2018 with excellent grades.

Currently, he is a Saxophone professor at the «Jesús de Monasterio» Conservatory in Santander, a position he has held since 2021.

His passion for chamber music has led him to participate in groups such as the Sax it! saxophone quartet, the Quinteto Miwa reed quintet, Abroad WindEnsemble and Wochepa Caballerizas Quartet, a unique formation.

Throughout his career he has received numerous awards from the C.P.M. Manuel Carra, such as the first prize in the II and IV Edition of the Woodwind Contest, the first prize of the VII and VIII Edition of the Chamber Music Contest, and the second prize of the I Edition of the Woodwind Contest. He also obtained the «Francisco Heredia» prize for the best academic record Carra in the 2013/2014 academic year at the same conservatory.

During Higher Education, he won the first prize of the XV Soloists Contest and the first prize of the X Chamber Music Contest of the RCSMVE.

He has taken interpretation and chamber music courses with the Art Sound Quartet, with the Sinoidal Ensemble, with the members of the Ensemble Squillante, Vincent David, Claude Delangle, Arno Bornkamp, Sylvain Maleziuex, Gaetano di Bacco, Jerome Laran, Gilles Tressos, Christian Wirth, Pedro Saxo, Daniel Gauthier and Joonatan Rautiola. He has completed the I and II course of tango and new urban music taught by Lila Horovitz. He also participated as a Saxophone professor in the first edition of the Super Sax Festival.

In the compositional field, he has premiered many works for various groups, especially those made for the Wochepa Caballerizas Quartet, including the Competition Trilogy. He premiered his own concerto for alto saxophone and orchestra, Rubén Rojo Concerto, in May 2019 at the RCSMVE. He won the Composition Prize of the Professional Music Conservatory of Baza with the work «Destello de ojos negros» in 2013, and was a finalist in the I International Composition Contest for band «Fundación Francisco Carvajal» Ciudad de Albolote, with the work «La Venganza del Sultán del Laberinto». Recently, he won first prize at the 3rd International Choral Composition Competition «Cármina Nova» with the work Modern Requiem for the b1tch goat.
